Fireflies

The first step is to solve the nonogram! It's probably easiest to start from the column with "1 19" (the 7th column) since that takes up the entire column and can be filled in immediately. The 8th and 9th columns can also be nearly completed immediately. From there, we can expand left and right taking note of the row constraints. The nonogram can be solved using normal nonogram techniques.

The completed nonogram features a picture of Spot riding Arlo amidst a field of fireflies (a tribute to this scene from The Good Dinosaur):

The next step is to recall the flavor text, which says "Don’t let your fear blind you, Arlo." As hinted by the flavor text, the fireflies are arranged in Braille letters which spell out SCARED BUT STRONG, the answer to this puzzle.

It took us some time to get the inspiration for this puzzle. A nonogram was on our list of puzzle mechanics that we wanted to include. When we recalled the firefly scene from The Good Dinosaur, it seemed cool to have fireflies spell out letters in the background to add some complexity to the nonogram image.

Trying to draw letters without making the grid too large was a challenge, until we recalled that Braille would fit perfectly because of its clean and compact representation. The flavortext followed naturally, given the themes of the film.
