World Wilde Web

Answer:

BIODIVERSE

Tapanuli Orangutan Union Island Gecko Hawksbill Turtle Chinese Pangolin African Penguin
Axolotl Saola Orange-bellied Parrot Red-fronted Macaw Spoon-billed Sandpiper
Komodo Dragon Quokka Mountain Chicken Giant Panda Thorny Seahorse
European Eel Vaquita Eastern Angel Shark Bonobo Fossa

Solvers are presented with a globe encircled by a diverse group of animals and habitat ranges. All the species in the graphic can be found in the word bank (with extra species added for distraction and diversity). A simple Wikipedia search for these animals (with the exception of spoon-billed sandpiper) will yield their habitat maps. A subtle extra hint is that the first letters of the species in the first three columns spell TAKE US HOME, suggesting to solvers that they should connect each species to its habitat range.

The lines form a world-wide “web” that cross specific letters at line intersections. Starting with the B in the top right and travelling along the lines, you can spell out BIODIVERSE.
